AK48 Strain

Nirvana Seeds’ AK-48 is a hybrid comprised of both Indica and Sativa properties, although it reportedly retains a dominant sativa effect. Since the mid 1990s ‘AK’ strains have grown in popularity.

This strain is one of the most robust and fast flowering hybrids available and can be finished in as little as 48 days, if the conditions are right, hence the name. The finished plant is described as producing solid buds with a remarkable potent aroma.

It is said if a grower chose to extend growth a little past this, however, that smell and taste would improve even further. This seed is most certainly something that would look good in any collection.

This seed has been genetically altered to be feminised, making the seed a far easier grow and generally much more user-friendly variation. Most growers have no use for, or interest in male plants, as they are not needed when simply growing the strain of that seed alone.

Were a grower to use a regular seed, the extra males would then end up needing to be disposed of, causing a lot of time, money and resources to be wasted.

Whereas, if a more experienced breeder were looking the creation another crop from a feminised seed, it can be done using only the females.

The process may be more complicated, but it does mean that the resulting offspring are much more uniform in quality, so the grower will have a better idea of the quality of crop produced.

It is this aspect of money, time and space that makes feminised seeds so popular with so many growers.

The approximate flowering time of this strain is 7 to 9 weeks and a grower could expect a yield of around 400-500 grams per square meter.
